Authorities in Rubanda District have received medical equipment worth Shs 1.2 billion from the Ministry of Health, alongside the installation of a storage container, as Rubanda District Hospital prepares for completion of its construction.
The equipment was officially handed over during a ceremony held at the hospital premises, attended by district leaders and health officials. Among the medical equipment received are four baby incubators, blood pressure machines, bedside lockers, 10 digital adult blood pressure machines, and 10 digital infant blood pressure machines, among other items.
Speaking at the event on Thursday 04/06/2026, Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba asked health workers at Rubanda District Hospital to begin utilizing the equipment as preparations continue for the hospital’s full operationalization upon completion of construction.

Kasyaba expressed satisfaction that the district hospital project commenced during his tenure as LC5 Chairperson and coincided with the appointment of Minister Henry Musasizi by President Yoweri Museveni as State Minister for Finance.
He commended President Museveni for appointing and later promoting Minister Musasizi, crediting the leadership for supporting the district’s healthcare development.
He further revealed that efforts are underway to secure a brand-new ambulance for the district hospital and noted that additional health workers would soon be deployed to strengthen service delivery.

Kasyaba also encouraged residents to embrace the facility once operational, saying Rubanda District Hospital boasts highly competent health workers capable of delivering quality healthcare services.
Rubanda District Health Officer Dr. Godfrey Bampabwire applauded the cooperation between Minister Musasizi and Chairman Kasyaba in advancing the district hospital project.
However, he raised concern over understaffing at the facility and appealed for more health personnel to meet the growing healthcare demands.
The District Chief Administrative Officer, Samuel Ahabwe, commended the Government of Uganda for the donation, describing it as a major boost to healthcare service delivery in the district.
The handover exercise followed a monitoring visit by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to assess the progress of the hospital’s construction.
According to Warrant Officer Deogine Kamugusha, the site engineer for Rubanda District Hospital, the facility is expected to become fully operational within the next six months.
The newly delivered medical equipment will be safely stored in the gazetted container pending completion of the hospital construction.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s drug budget has significantly increased from Shs 200 million annually to Shs 580 million per year.
